Giving Is Not Only Contagious, It's Healing
Did you know that giving is contagious?
Actually, I just made that up. But there are studies (somewhere by someone) that say when we witness others giving, we get inspired to give. It spreads, just like yawning.
I’m not sure if yawning can be construed as healing, but again, there are probably studies (somewhere by someone) that say it is so. I’m sure there are even more of these studies (you guessed it, somewhere by someone) that mention how giving is healing.
All that complicated social science aside, here are a few ways I’ve observed and experienced how giving promotes healing.
Giving:
Creates an overall feeling of well-being.
Connects us with others, providing a sense of belonging and community.
Forms deeper relationships.
Opens our hearts.
Inspires us to be receptive to new possibilities.
Takes the focus off our problems and brings our attention to the needs of others.
All of this forms a healthier and more balanced state of being.
But what is true giving?
Whatever it is we give, there is only one question that matters. Did we give from our heart? We heal when we let go of any agenda or reasons we are giving and focus on what matters most: love.
What can be more healing than giving love? So spread some joy, make new friends, and give with your full heart. You may be surprised where it leads you.
Giving you all my love,
