Have you ever used post-it notes? What a simple invention, right? Since the 1970s, post-it notes have been making our lives easier. Like most people, I use them to jot things down that I need to do, or must remember. They are handy, but not much fun, since they are always reminding me that there is something I have to do. I felt stressed by them, a tumultuous relationship indeed. That’s when I decided to give them a different, more creative use.
A New Use for Post-it Notes
I am a big believer in the philosophy that we are human beings not human doings. At some point along the way (or have we always been this way?) our society started honoring doing above all else. This is an unnatural and unhealthy state—constantly engaging in activities. It is stressful, not only physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
That’s when I had the idea: I am going to use post-it notes for healing. I started by writing affirmations, healing words, and inspiring phrases on the sticky notes to remind me of ways I wanted to be, instead of things I needed to do.
Each time I created a new note, I would post it on the wall next to where I write. Finally, I had enough inspiring notes to form the word L O V E! The results from this have been incredible. Every day I look at these messages and feel uplifted and reminded of all the beautiful life lessons I hold close in my heart. Now, when I see post-it notes, I no longer fill unease or pressure, I feel love.
Wishing you healing, happiness, and love,
